Wednesday 7th September - Windsurf **** - The Manor at Felixstowe – sunny
periods.
Foil – 20.00 knot max, (spot PB) 18.72 knot ave.,(spot PB) 15.43 knot
hour (PB), 17.83 knot mile, (year and spot PB) 49.28 km., 14.28 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 and an Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham
Thunderbird 6.5.
Today was pretty much the same as yesterday, breezy first thing, then
dropping only to build again around 1 on the afternoon but after a wet
start we had more sunshine today, windier too! So, after breakfast it was
exercises in the sunny, warm back garden, then lunch before hitching my
trailer and heading down, to be honest I was not expecting much as it was
looking marginal. Robert and Andy were both setting up and after a quick
chat the breeze looked very promising so I whizzed back to Squiz Lane to
set up my foil board taking a chance with my favourite sail, the Tushingham
Thunderbird 6.5. With the wind once again SSW, slightly onshore it is not
the best as it makes the sea very lumpy and I quickly realised I had too
much sail but decided to stick it out to try for another hour, in fact I
lasted two hours in some challenging conditions, I could have definitely
used my 115 lt. fin board but being rough I though it would be better on
the foil! I didn’t push overly hard today to go fast being rough but was
verry pleased to end up with several PB’s again, am loving the new
Starboard freeride gear:) So I got a best ever foil hour, spot and year
mile PB and a spot average PB, plus a spot PB for 2 second max. so am well
chuffed. Also, I was pleased with my gybing today only dropping the last
one when I put the nose of my board into the back of a wave! So, two pretty
full-on days with maybe another to come tomorrow!
Then when I got home, I found out I had three pics in the local paper, the
Star but better still I am cover pic on the Autumn 2022 Felixstowe Town
Council magazine:)
